Vampire Devices

What are they and why do they matter?

Vampire devices are electrical appliances that drain power when left on standby or not in use.

For example, when you turn off your TV, there’s no picture, but the red standby light is still on. This still uses energy.

Although it may seem small, when lots of devices are left on standby, energy use can add up quickly.

To save energy, remember to turn these devices off when you're not using them:

  • Kettle

  • Washing Machine

  • Tumble dryer

  • Dishwasher

  • Microwave

  • Toaster

  • Toaster

  • Coffee machine

  • TV

  • Speaker

  • Laptop

  • Printer
